ATALYA
STAVRO was
born in Russia and received her ballet training at the Vaganova Choreographic
Institute, the official school of the Kirov Ballet in St. Petersburg.
After completing her training and graduating with the highest honors,
Natalya joined the state Academic Theatre of Classical Ballet in Moscow
as a principal dancer. She danced leading roles for 20 years and toured
throughout Europe, South America, Japan and the United States. Her diverse
repertoire includes Don Quixote, Swan Lake, Cinderella,
Romeo and Juliet, Giselle and Raymonda. Natalya
also danced in ballets created by the renowned choreographers George Balanchine,
Roland Petit, Alberto Alonso and Maurice Béjart. Natalya has been
featured in a number of videotaped performances including Swan Lake,
Romeo and Juliet and Don Quixote.
In
1990 Natalya turned her talent to teaching and since then has been instructing
classes in ballet, pointe, and variations for companies and schools in Russia
and the United States. Her class format emphasizes correct development of
both the technical and artistic elements of classical ballet and is a clear
reflection of her pure traditional training and distinguished performance
career.
