The
class emphasize correct basic technique and proper body alignment,
which helps dancers to avoid injuries and build a strong technique.
Upper body coordination is stressed. The class starts with a warm-up
technique at the barre followed by complex combinations including
jumps and turns.

UDMILA
(Lucy) RAIANOVA
began her studies at the Academy School of Ballet in Almaty, Kazakhstan
where she trained in the Vaganova method. She graduated with honors from
the Kazakhstan State Ballet Academy and was invited to be a Principal
Dancer with Ufa, Bashkir Republic State Theater of Opera and Ballet. Here
she was given the opportunity to perform in the leading roles of the classic
ballet repertoire.
Later, she was invited to
join the Bolshoi Theater Ballet in Moscow where she continued her artistic
development by working with the best known ballet teachers of the Russian
system. An invitation to join the Ballet of Russia State Theater as soloist
and principal dancer enabled her to dance the roles in Giselle (Myrthe,
Pas de Deux Act I), Swan Lake (Pas de Trois), Don Quixote (Mercedes, Queen
of the Dryads), Nutcracker, Le Corsaire (Gulnare) and many others
of the classical ballet repertoire. She toured Europe performing with
the Ballet of Russia and teaching master classes. While in Moscow, she
began her coaching career.
Since moving to the US, she
has continued to teach classes in all levels of ballet, pointe, ballet
variations and stretch exercises. Currently, she teaches at Steps on Broadway,
Broadway Dance Center, New York University Tisch School of the Arts and
Ballet Arts at City Center. In addition, she regularly guest teaches for
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo.
Ludmila’s teaching encompasses
not only the Russian classical tradition but also the best of all the
international alternative techniques. Her innovative teaching method has
won her great professional recognition.
In 2006 she coached her student
for the Youth American Grand Prix Classical Ballet Competition Finals
in New York City where she was awarded the Bronze Medal.
