AYA BARAK began her training in her hometown of Detroit Michigan in modern, jazz, ballet and tap but found her most inspiration in the dance style of hip-hop.

Spending many of her summers training at the Edge Performing Arts Center and Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles, Laya has had the honor of training with some of the top choreographers and teachers around today.

She continued her studies in modern, jazz and ballet at Indiana University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance Performance. While at Indiana Laya danced, choreographed and eventually became co-director for the In-Motion Dance Company. She also co-choreographed and directed the award winning dance concert “Revival.”

Throughout the past few years Laya has had the opportunity to teach workshops and master classes around the US and abroad including Canada, Israel and Australia. Currently Laya is on the faculty at Dance New Amsterdam and the School at STEPS and acts as a substitute teacher for hip hop classes at STEPS on Broadway.
