Basic/Beg.

Basic House:
This class will provide a comprensive introduction to the essence of House dancing, known for its rhythmic movement called the “Jack”. The style combines elements of Latin Dance/Salsa, African and Tap. It can be descibed as light-footed, feminine and relaxed.

Hip-Hop:
This class combines Jazz-Funk with traditional Hip-Hop moves.

UMI TSUJI started ballet at the age of three. When she was fifteen, she joined the Asami Maki Ballet Company in Tokyo where she started to expand her training in dance to include Jazz/Funk and Hip-Hop. Soon Kumi became a Hip-Hop instructor at various dance studios, health clubs and Community Colleges.

Prior to moving to the United States in 1996, she performed with numerous dance companies in New York such as Dance Fusion. Kumi also toured and performed with Marjory Smarth throughout Japan. In NY she performed with Bev Brown’s P-Funk, Violeta Galagarza’s KR3TS,Courtony French’s Vissy and Robin Dunn’s Middleground Dance Theater at The Alvin Ailey Certificate Graduation Concert. Additionally she performed at The International Dance Festival (The Duke Theater on 42nd Street).

Kumi has taught at Faizil’s and Steps on Broadway in NY. Internationally she toured with the House Diva Barbara Tucker. Kumi appeared in a FUBU commercial (LL Cool J), Spike Lee ‘s Movie The 25th Hour. She has been featured in several music videos including LOLA, Out of Eden, Krumb Snatcha (Gang Starr), and as a main featured dancer and actress in Curtoy music Video entitled OH NO.

She currently choreographs and dances for NY Based Hip-Hop recording artists H.U.L, Curtoy and House recording artist Darryl D Bonneau (NYC), a hot sexy male vocalist with an international reputation. She has choreographed for Reggae recording Artist Jo Black Sekou from Africa. Additional choreographic credits include working with such as artists as Chink from Ohio, NE-HY in Detroit, Ayanna from Antidote Entertainment Inc. She has also danced for Chandra Simmons. She has conducted several workshops throughout Japan for Amm Performing Arts and Wet’s.

Ms Tsuji studied wacking with her mentor Brian Green. She is trained in House, Hip-Hop, Breaking, Capoeira, Jazz, African, Mambo, Salsa, Tap and Ballet.
