David Storey’s class begins with a center warm-up derived from Limon and Horton technique with the emphasis on technique, body alignment, and movement transition. Also incorporating adagios and across the floor exercises with the focus on improving turns and jumps. The choreography is lyrical with dramatic themes. Challenging the dancer with technique movement while improving performance qualities.

The dancer is taught how to train body groups to improve flexibility and muscle strength. The class also trains the student to move their body as a form of expression and focuses on the enjoyment of lyrical dance.

Modern Jazz

R. STOREY has appeared in the original cast of 42nd Street and Peter Pan with Sandy Duncan on Broadway. David has also performed with the American Dance Machine, Dallas Ballet, the movie He Said, She Said and various television specials.

In New York, David has taught for 18 years at Steps on Broadway, Broadway Dance Center and Dance Space Center. David has also choreographed 5 Off-Broadway musicals including Just So with Andre de Shields, Groucho and many musical productions in Japan. Developing his own contemporary style, David has taught master classes, and choreographed work in Japan, Italy, Holland, Singapore, France, Brazil, Denmark and Finland.

David had his own company, David Storey DanceWorks that performed in and around New York until 1998. The company performed a complete original Nutcracker and 14 new works. David has also taught for the American Theater Dance Workshop, New York Dance Intensive, Eglevsky Ballet, Dance Masters and is currently teaching the International Summer Dance at Point Park College and is a visiting professor at Shenandoah University.
